About Scandinavian Mountains Airport
Scandinavian Mountains Airport (SCR) opened in 2019 and is Sweden’s newest international airport. Located between Sälen and Trysil, it was built to provide fast and convenient access to Scandinavia’s largest alpine ski destination.
Flight Times to Sälen and Trysil
Flights to Scandinavian Mountains Airport take approximately one hour from Stockholm and around two to three hours from destinations such as Copenhagen, London, Amsterdam, and Brussels.
Getting from the Airport to the Sälen Area
The drive from the airport to Gruven (near Högfjällshotellet) takes approximately 20 minutes, to Tangen around 25 minutes, and to Trysil about 40 minutes by car.
Car Rental at the Airport
If you plan to rent a car, we recommend booking well in advance to ensure availability upon arrival.
Taxi or Airport Shuttle
Taxi and shuttle bus transfers can be booked in advance through Sälenbuss. If you travel by shuttle bus, it stops at Högfjällshotellet, close to our cabin in Gruven, but it does not continue into the Sälfjällstangen area where our cabin in Tangen is located. If someone in your group has a driving licence, renting a car may be a more flexible option, as described above.
