Welcome to the cabin rental page of the Snickar Andersson family! We are Mats and Maria, proud owners of our charming rental cabins. Our family name, “Snickar,” reflects the Dala heritage and tradition and is a farmstead name.

Our Story

Since the 1970s, “Snickar” Mats Andersson has been dedicated to service in the hospitality industry, starting as an innkeeper at Olarsängen hotel. It was during this time that Maria, leading a ski tour group, met Mats. We tied the knot on Ascension Day in 1983 and built our home in Malung, where we continue to raise our family.

Local Roots and Sustainable Practices

Our family business, Snickar Andersson, has served the Malung-Sälen community since the early 1980s, engaging in various services like catering, a gas station, and berry freezing. In 1989, we built our first rental cabin in Gruven with local craftsmen, followed by a second cabin at Sälfjällstangen in 1999. We prioritize using locally sourced materials. We use wood from our land and handcrafted furnishings from talented local artisans. Our cabins are designed with sustainability in mind, utilizing environmentally friendly materials and geothermal energy for heating.
